The Smiles of a Million Tears

The smiles of a million tears
Happiness of the sweating blood
Desperation in the multitudes
Seen in them happy eyes.

A dying planet in agony
Convulsions of joy, storms of change
Silence of gunfire by a cold oil fire

Cheap pleasures
Expensive essentials
Indiscriminate selectivity
Forgotten millions

Bonds of freedom
We can but escape it
Scape my escape
Scythe my shape

I run out of words
Phrases too
So visible it is
Yet so unseen

Unheeded pains
The smiles in vain
Unnoticed haste
In unfailing faith

Dust that we are
Tis will be
Ignorant and powerful
Powerless and wise
